Now, let’s get down to it. What is all this talk about the CrossFit Open?

Enter The Open, Even If You Can’t Win.

What? Why would I enter something knowing I’m not going to win? Because you’ll regret it if you don’t. The Open is a truly amazing experience.

The Open is fun. It’s wild and crazy and so full of enthusiasm that it makes you wonder for our sanity.

Sure it’s fun to see who leads the Open, like it’s fun to watch the real beasts of your gym do incredible shit, but it’s the stories of perseverance, drive, and hope in the face of bad odds that make us smile and be proud to call ourselves CrossFitters. It’s competing, even when you have no chance of winning. It’s putting yourself out there.

We will be programming the Open WODs into our normal gym programming, so you will be doing the workouts no matter if you officially sign up or not. Last year, we found that the people that were officially signed up for the Open were hitting more PR’s and getting better times during the WODs than the people doing with WODs, but not participating.

Why?

Because the Open gives a small sense of competition. Your scores matter for something other than just being up on the whiteboard at the end of the night. You have a driving force behind you pushing you through every WOD. It bonds people and classes together and it changes the atmosphere in the gym. It’s fun. End of story. Sign up. You won’t regret it.
